Where does the Closed brand come from?

Closed comes from a unique blend of French design, Italian craftsmanship and German tradition. The brand was born from the innovative idea of French designer couple Marithé and François Girbaud to launch the first Italian jeans brand called ÇA in 1968. Problems with this name led to the brand being renamed Closed in 1978.

In the early 1990s, business partners Hans Leplow and Günther Giers took over the company. In 2009, looking to the future, they passed the baton to Giers' son Gordon and his two friends Til Nadler and Hans Redlefsen. To this day, this trio forms the heart of Closed as business partners, owners and friends.
